So what’s the story morning glory?
Part Three of ‘Hulk: Asunder’ has one confrontation, one
answer, and one question posed, with all three scenario’s leading into a battle
that we are all dieing to see – like a stripper with low-morals.
The Confrontation – Now the Hulk is very thankful that an
unknown scientist has managed to separate him from Bruce Banner weeks ago. However, today, he is not so thankful that Banners ‘Boar Brothers’ have decimated the Moloids
underworld kingdom. So what does Hulk do next? HULK SMASH BOAR BROTHERS!
Before dumping them both down a big hole to rot in the mire.
The Answer – Hulk meets up with Amanda Von Doom (still no
relation), and agrees to her previous requests to track down Bruce Banner.
The Question – With Banner and his mutated pets waiting for
the up and coming battle, do you think that they will be able to withstand the
Hulks might?
What is the most
memorable sentence spoken in this issue?
Simple – when Hulk meets up with Amanda, and says to her
‘Banners mine’.
Oooohhhhh! You know that next issue is going to be good.
Was the story any
good?
Aesthetically, this issue was an all battle issue, with a
little bit of back-story and plot thrown in for good measure. Therefore, in a
round about way, I suppose that the story in itself was a very simple one.
Still, it was very enjoyable in an impending way – it almost acts as a
precursor to whatever is coming up next.
Yeah – I have to say that I liked it. It was bold – vibrant
– dynamic – and had an earthy quality and tone that was very well executed.
Though, I suppose due to the lack of story, the ‘pretty
pictures’ did come across a mite too cosmetic for my liking – because it was a very
quick read.
What is the best
thing about this issue?
The teaser was the clincher for me – you know – the ‘off
panel’ scientist who helped Hulk detach himself from the Banner. Plus, it was
nice to see Hulk doing his Kojack impersonation, as well as a visual image to
signify how Hulk and Banner split.
What is the worst
thing about this issue?
Another simple question to answer really – the lack of story
was a right bummer in retrospect – this comic book just read too quick (I know
I said that already). Also, I would have liked to have seen a bit more
character and plot spun into this particular chapter – just to titivate and
inform us readers, what is happening internally with Hulk and his mental
counterpart, Banner.
If you could sum up
this issue in a phrase or saying, what would that phrase or saying be?
In the film ‘The Good The Bad and The Ugly’ Eli Wallach said
it best when he quipped – ‘If you have to shoot, shoot, don’t talk’.
Appropriate for an all action issue, right?
If this issue were a
movie, an object, or a piece of music, what would that be and why?
For some strange reason, because of the confrontational and
quick way that this story reads, I would have to say that the Bananarama song
‘Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye
’ seems appropriate in an eighties ways – especially if you
watch the video.
Well, both of them are not particularly wordy, pretty
to look at, and do involve a battle or sorts to boot.
What do you think
would have made this issue better than it was?
Without sounding repetitive – ooops too late – more story
would have been nice, plus I would have liked to have seen more of Banner and
Amanda too.
They are growing on me you know.
Final thoughts...
Next issue has a lot to live up to so that this chapter can
be absolved of its sins. Moreover, I hope that this next battle is with both
words and with fists, and will also give us fans something more than ‘pretty
pictures’ and a couple of wasted boars.
