SUPERHERO ENTERPRISES - MAKE YOUR OWN HERO

Have you ever wondered what makes a good superhero? Is it the costume? Is it the power? Or is it something to do with the 'cut of their jib' and the way that they saunter? Hmmm! Maybe my mate Davien would know? As he has a really nifty website that is all to do with cobbling together the next generations heroes today. Here, check out an interview I had with him just the other day, whilst we were both perched upon the 'Daily Planets' globe.

1) In your own words Davien, how would you describe your website, www.SuperheroEnterprises.com? Superhero Enterprises™ is the symbol of contemporary youth culture in America today. The firm takes you back to a period in our history when, "Do the Right Thing" was the principal theme. The company operates as a character based business, publishing and merchandising various consumer products from its library of proprietary characters.

We manufacture superhero characters!

2) What is the most positive thing that has come out of this venture? The most positive thing I've found is entrepreneurship. It has become the natural progression in my life and career in entertainment. Creating an extraordinary path and legacy which has allowed me to try things and see what happens; that's exciting!

3) Where does the name ‘SuperheroEnterprises’ originate from? What is the ‘secret origin’ of your site? How did it come into existence? Eighteen years ago I began my career in entertainment, marketing at one of the world's largest record companies. I'd worked with some extraordinary people during what was a really extraordinary period of time in music. Our team was releasing gold and platinum records consistently, and I garnered this nickname "Super Dave" (which was changed to "Supa" because of the famous stunt guy) director of the "Street Team" initiatives.

Well, even back then, I'd been entrepreneurial and very business-minded. So I got this notion to begin recording music with my own sound. That's when the original ideal for the superhero "Notes" was conceived (as a logo for our music production division).

4) Care to elaborate a little bit more than that Davien? One day while I was in a church, I noticed an older lady coming down a flight of stairs, and she started stumbling. I immediately rushed over to help her break her fall. I basically saved the lady's life that day (kind of, in my mind I did). Well it was at that moment that I had an epiphany and began pondering, "Supa" helped the lady, that's sort of like a "Superhero", I could make this work.

After that day I began brainstorming idea's for the merchandising business (T-shirts, hats, skateboards, etc.) and designs for a websites had began. The creative combination of a "Superhero" together with a business entity of a "Enterprises" fit.

When I decided to take the career experience to the next level I'd already been excepted to Pepperdine University and knew I was going to inevitability see my life change. We made some really great connections and decisions with the support of my alumni and their ties to the comic book industry, and that's how we began.

5) Do you have any amusing stories about your site? Honestly, I would say there is collection of the real life events leading up to this point, that have been pretty entertaining looking back. Though, I think the most amusing for me are receiving from time to time the mix of silly superhero concepts that make their way into my email-box for review. Some of the more ridiculous superheroes ideas really seem to have been created in the five minutes before I received the email.

7) What was that 'Notes' concept about, which you mentioned previously? "N.O.T.E.S." is our most powerful science fiction superhero and a highly-skilled pioneer in music technology, whose purpose is to transform and enhance the experience of making and editing electronic music. 

Comic book superheroes are supposed to provide role models that are potentially used by children in developing self images. N.O.T.E.S. symbolizes these qualities of high moral character, courage, generosity, and honor of a noble spirit.
