EARTH 2 #12

[ ZAPPING THOSE BARGAINS
Look out, there's a threat nearby! But what can anybody do, my-oh-my? Doctor Fate's gone to seed. Jay Garrick's smoking weed. Whilst the rest of Earth-2 can't help but cry. Come on. Pass the hankies, Writer: James Robinson; Artist: Nicola Scott; and Publisher: DC Comics. But only in April, 2013. Thar she blows!!!!!

Using GENERAL terms, answer the following 4 questions about this THIRD PART of 'The Tower Of Fate'.
  • WHAT'S THE MAIN THRUST OF THIS TALE: The Flash and the newly baptized Doctor Fate, has to save Jay's Mum, and push back Wotan, before this green-faced cretin redecorates the world with their brains.
  • ARE THE MAIN OBJECTIVES ACHIEVED: Well, let's just say that once Green Lantern hears about what his fellow heroes are up to, he leaves Hawkgirl to investigate his boyfriend's murder, and lends them a helping-hand -- A.S.A.P.
  • ANYTHING ELSE HAPPEN: Yes. I broke my fingernail on the keyboard.
  • HOW DOES THIS STORY END: With a new threat emerging from Dherain.

All in all, what is the most memorable SENTENCE OR CONVERSATION spoken in this issue?
Is it just me, or does it sound odd to hear Doctor Fate exclaim the word 'Man!'? I mean, in the past he's always been a very stoic magician. Who says as little as possible, and does whatever he had to do to help out his comrades. So to hear him spurt out colloquialisms in this manner just doesn't feel right to me.

Now am I right or am I wrong?

What are the BEST bits about this issue?
(+) Nicola Scott's artwork throughout this adventure was f*cking amazing. It was dynamic, bold, well paced, and came across like gang-busters without the splash!
(+) I know that this might sound somewhat strange, but I am genuinely happy that Jay's Mum was still alive by the end of this tale. She seems like a very down to earth character in my eyes, and can add some much needed grounding to this book, which on occasion it will defiantly need.
(+) Doctor Fate is back. Say no more.
(+) It was nice to see Jay and Alan fight side by side again, as for me; personally, it brought back some good memories of the JSA's glory days. Please continue the motion DC.

What are the WORST bits about this issue?
(-) I suppose my only slight gripe with this issue was how Khalid kept on moaning about coping with 'the power of fate', and that by in large it was just one long fight scene. Apart from that though -- nah! -- This was an above average adventure.

Choose TWO CHARACTERS out of this comic book, and then compare them to two MUSICIANS.
THE CONSTRUCTION WORKER FROM THE VILLAGE PEOPLE AS DOCTOR FATE: Sorry. I couldn't help myself. I just thought 'What singer wears a helmet?', and then... well... I best go to my room now without supper.

KERMIT'S NEPHEW ROBIN AS WOTAN: But before I go, I just like to add that this next comparison follows similar guidelines, OK?

What QUOTE would be appropriate to sum-up this story?
'As a man sow, shall he reap, and I know that talk is cheap. But the heat of the battle is as sweet as the victory' -- Bob Marley

What SONG, THEME-TUNE, or MELODY, would complement this tale, as well as add and extra dimension to it by default?
'WAR' BY EDWIN STAR: Now after reading this tale, I thought to myself 'What was the point of that battle then?'. And though and behold, the following comparison was made. Nuff said.

ANYTHING Else?
Now without giving too much away, by the end of this yarn Wotan buggers off to God knows where, while the rest of the heroes plan their next battle. So what I thought would be a good idea, is if I have a couple of guesses where Wotan now is. Because could it be:

  • A Tanning Salon -- For obvious reasons.
  • The Mall -- Just to get himself a new outfit.
  • The Dentists -- Because talking sh*t has caused him teeth to decay.
  • Barbados -- To take a quick break from it all.
  • Gilligan's Island -- As it is very inexpensive this time of year.
  • The Cinema -- To watch a nice rom-com starring Jennifer Aniston.
  • Hollywood -- I hear that waiting on tables is easier to do than killing people. Kind of.

Alight. Enough of my silliness for this month. All I have left to say is that this issue of 'Earth 2' was a pretty decent read. The art was brilliant. The story set-up the next arc. And by in large the team are coming together quite nicely.

But what next, huh? Stay tuned comic book fans; because I have a feeling it's going to be good. Real good.

GIVE IT, IT'S DUES: If This Comic Book Was a Brand of Chocolate, It Would Be a Low Calorie Version of Best-Buy with Nuts In. You Can Take That However You Want To, Ha!
