LA COSPLAY CON - AN INTERVIEW WITH HEATHER ELLERTSON

Cosplay Wonder Woman The LA Cosplay Convention is an annual event held every year where fans of popular culture get together and dress up as their favorite characters. Now from my point of view this is a good thing, and I'd especially like to thank Heather Ellertson, the producer of LA Cosplay Con, for organising it for us. Heather, it's now over to you...

Forbidden planet

1) What are your own origins, Heather?    I started off in the video game industry which eventually led me here.

2) What inspired the creation of LA Cosplay Con? Plus what is your role within the scheme of things?   I've been in the gaming industry for over 17 years, and have seen the cosplay community grow and grow and grow. So I felt that they needed their own event, and I'm the producer of that event.

Woman Man
3) In your own words how would you describe your con?   A fun filled, family event with the celebration of art and culture of cosplay with a focus on the continuing growth of cosplay in the US.

4) Do you cosplay? And if you do, or don’t, who would you like to cosplay as?   I have never done cosplay, yet I love to dress up! I also love the Walking Dead, so anything zombie related would be my cosplay costume.

5) What song would you say best represents your convention and why?  The Black Eyed Peas, and 'Let's get it started'. Since we've just hosted our second event, and I still want to keep it growing.

Stan Lee and The Big Bang Theory
6) If this event could get endorsed by a known celebrity – either living or dead – who would you like it to be and why?   The characters created by Stan Lee and his team are timeless, and cosplayers take such care when bringing those characters to life. So his endorsement would mean a great deal to me and my team.

7) What were the main obstacles you had to contend with?   Getting cosplayers to trust me by showing them that my intentions are real. Honestly. I have a ton of passion inside me and I do want these events to work. It's not all about the bottom line.

8) If you have a personal credo, what do you think it would be?   Be true to yourself, love life, and do what you love.

And on that note, dear reader, I'd like to thank Heather for telling us about her life as a producer, before directing you towards the official LA Cosplay Con website, facebook, and twitter pages.
