Rough Cut French and bilingual actor, Matt Gras, is set to make his debut as a lead actor in the feature film, 'Rough Cut', a film based on a best selling novel of the same name created by the award-winning director, Owen Carey-Jones. In this gut gripping thriller which mixes the exciting elements of murder-mystery, action, romance, and synthetic diamonds on the French Riviera, Matt plays Jacques: A local boy from Port Grimaud, who unexpectedly inherits a small fortune and gets trapped in the web of international trafficking of diamonds, putting his life (and those of his loved ones) in great danger. Want to know more? Then check this out....

1) What are your own origins, Matt?   I am an earthling, a human, and a male actor born in Paris during the mid 1980s AC.

Matt in Rough Cut2) What inspired the creation of ‘Rough Cut’?   'Rough Cut' was originally a book -- a best selling book written by the director of the film, Owen Carey Jones. Owen spent ten years to adapt his novel into the film, and it's a real work of love and passion, shown soon on the big screen!

3) In your own words how would you describe this story?   'Rough Cut' narrates the lives of three characters who get caught trafficking fake diamonds. Their journeys will cross each other and lead to unexpected discoveries and revelations, sometimes at the risk of their own lives, Tadam!!!

4) If this film omitted a collective odor, what would it smell like and why?   Gasoline! Your danger senses are instantly triggered by the smell (and by the time) you realize you're right in the middle of the danger zone, FLICK!... the lighten match hits the ground!!! 'Rough Cut' is both the gasoline, the danger, the match, the spark, and the grand finale explosion!!!

5) What song would you say best represents your wares and why?   Songs have the power to define you at a specific time of your existence, so my answer is very contextual: The Lumineers - 'Ho Hey'. I love the indie feel to it, and this shared feeling of being on the road, on a journey to something beautiful.

Christopher Walken
6) If you could get a known celebrity – either living or dead – to promote this flick, who would you choose, and why would you want this particular person?   Great question. I would certainly ask Christopher Walken to mouth-track and narrate the whole trailer. 'First he'll go 'Schling! and then 'Arggg', then 'Splash' , 'Noooo', 'Boum',and finally 'Wouch' (sounds randomly chosen - no spoilers). CW simply because he can get away with it and keep his crown of 'King of Cool'.

7) What were the main obstacles you had to contend with along the way?   I guess the greatest obstacle was to bring this ambitious story to life. The narrative was extremely ambitious on paper and I wasn't expecting a studio to be behind such an action driven project. When flying to Port-Grimaud, I was totally amazed by what the production brought together and the amazing crew I worked with for the next three weeks. The film features an amazing cast, fantastic locations, gut gripping action scenes, and much more the fans of the genre will enjoy! I think Rough Cut will be remembered as one of the most ambitious indie films of the year, if not ever produced in the UK.

8) If ‘RC' had a motto, what do you think it would be?   Keep away from false diamonds. They hurt (really, really bad)!

Well, you've now been warned, dear reader. Keep away from false diamonds, and keep close to Rough Cut by clicking onto their website,  facebook, and twitter pages. Go on. Click-Click. I promise you it won't hurt.
