NEW CIARO - THE PRICE OF TRUE LOVE

-
New Ciaro What would you do for true love? Perhaps you would climb a tall mountain? Or better yet, swim a vast lake or an expansive section of river? Saying that, though, would you do what my mate Bradley did, all in the name of true love? Create a comic book about two women, and what they have to go through just to be together... New Ciaro.

1) What are your own origins, Bradley?   I started my comic book career by writing a short story for a Delta Comix anthology. After that I wrote the horror comic named Orision which was picked up by Insane Comics. Then from there I have published five titles through them, and I'm currently working on Phantom Hawk for Guerilla ComX, whilst doing the New Ciaro Kickstarter.

New Ciaro
2) What inspired you to create, ‘New Ciaro’?   I wanted to tell the story about how far love would take two women to find happiness and peace in a world that is against them and everything they stand for.

3) In your own words how would you describe this story?   I would describe this story as a mixture of 'A Clockwork Orange' meets 'Bladerunner', with a bit of added 'Bonnie and Clyde' and lesbianism thrown into a steampunk world.

4) What song would you say best represents this comic and why?   I think "Hello" by Adele. To me, that song represents the sadness and willingness to be with that person you are in love with the most.

Sir Ian McKellan
5) If you could get a celebrity – either living or dead – to promote your wares, who would you choose, and why would you want to choose this particular person?   I would like to get Sir Ian McKellan to promote the New Ciaro Kickstarter! I mean, who better to represent the homosexual community than the man who played Gandalf and Magneto! Plus I'm sure he'll be able to relate to the emotion of the piece, as he himself is gay, and to me, that's sincerity.

6) What have you learnt about yourself through this endeavour?   I've learned that so much goes into the promotional part of a kickstarter campaign, and I also learned a great deal of what is appropriate for print when talking about comics.

7) During your time in this field, what is the one thing that has kept you in good stead?   The love of the medium. No matter how dire or bad things get, I just keep on going for the sake of making good comics. Just the other week I spoke to some high school kids about comics and my life, and it was one of the most gratifying things I ever done (aside from holding my children when they were born). I mean, to see the look on all those kids faces as they were entertained and inspired to follow their dreams like I did -- Priceless.

8) If ‘New Ciaro’ had a motto, what would it be?   Never give up on your dream and your love for someone. I'm sure you will go through valleys of low and high to be happy with them.

And on that note, dear reader, I would like to thank Bradley for telling us about his comic book, New Ciaro, before directing you towards his kickstarter, twitter, and facebook pages.
