BEING ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS

It can easily be said that my younger brother Anthony is a huge fan of the television show, 'Absolutely Fabulous'. So much so in fact, that he's dedicated a large portion of his life to getting drunk, popping pills, whilst making himself look silly on such special occasions as birthdays, weddings, christenings, funerals, memorials, tennis matches, parliamentary elections, bar mitzvahs, as well as the occasional vasectomy. So God help us on what he'll get up to when the new 'Absolutely Fabulous' movie is released on the 1st of July, 2016. Anyone got a gun handy? Or better yet, an infographic?

Now wasn't that absolutely fabulous, darlings? Both the infographic and the contents within. Well, if you think this is the case, here, check out some more absolutely fabulous trivia provided by yours truly.

Absolutely Fabulous
1) The TV series was originally based on a sketch performed by Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders on their self titled comedy show. The sketch was called 'The Modern Mother and Daughter'.

2) Joanna Lumley was cast into the role of Patsy after Jennifer saw her playing a drunken version of herself on the Ruby Wax TV series, 'The Full Wax'. Coincidentally, Ruby also acts as a script editor on AbFab as well as making the occasional appearance

3) Jennifer Saunders is only 10 years older than her co-star, Julia Sawalha, despite them both playing mother and daughter respectively.

4) Have you noticed that each of the principal actors have one thing in common? All of their first name's begin with the letter J: Jennifer, Julia, Joanna, June, Jane, etc-etc-etc.

5) In 1995 Jennifer planned to write a film based on the TV series, but was somehow talked out if it and into producing more episodes instead.

6) Jennifer once considered co-writing an episode with her husband, Adrian Edmondson, an episode which would cross-over her sit-com with her husbands sit-com, 'Bottom'. In it we would have seen Edina and Patsy go out on a date with Richard Richard and Eddie Hitler. Ouch! That must hurt... someone.

Absolutely Fabulous
7) Talking about Ade, he's also the musician who performs the theme song for Abfab, "Wheels on Fire", as well as being the phonetic inspiration behind the character, Eddy Monsoon, played by his wife, Jennifer, AKA Edina Monsoon.

8) In 2005 the TV Guide ranked AbFab 24 in their list of the "25 Top Cult Shows Ever Made".

9) If you look closely at the episode called 'Sex', you'll see Patsy compare a young Idris Elba (in his first speaking role) to the one and only Sean Connery. Another coincidence, quite recently Idris has been linked to play the part of Bond in an up and coming 007 movie.

10) There have been two planned American remakes of Abfab, with both of them failing to get off the ground. The first was developed in the 90s by Roseanne Barr, starring Carrie Fisher and Barbara Carrera, where as the second one was developed by Fox, starring Kathryn Hahn and Kristen Johnston.
