ARROW VIDEO TAKE A STAB AT HALLOWEEN

-
Vamps featuring Grace Jones October is Halloween month, so I'm sure you'd agree with me when I say it’s only fitting that Arrow Video celebrate with an extra big helping of scares and sleaze. So come on, grab a baseball bat, arm yourself with a hacksaw, and get ready for a grave full of not so new releases that'll scare you to hell and back. Well, maybe not hell. But something close to it. Like Texas.

Vamp

Keith (Chris Makepeace) and AJ (Robert Rusler) are two fraternity pledges who want to make the right impression at college. So what they do is come up with a plan to impress their friends, a plan involving them heading to the After Dark Club and finding a stripper for a party they're going to throw. But alas, at the club they don't find a stripper, rather a hoard of vampires led by Kinky Katrina (Grace Jones)!

Almost certainly an influence on the 1996 Robert Rodriguez horror classic, From Dusk till Dawn, Vamp is superbly designed by many of Grace Jones’ own award-winning collaborators and features stunning effects by four-time Oscar winner, Greg Cannom (The Lost Boys). Delivering laughs and scares in equal measure, with the added bonus of vampy sex appeal, Vamp is a comedy horror romp with real bite!

Burnt Offerings
Burnt Offerings

When college lecturer Ben Rolf (Oliver Reed) and his family rent a remote country mansion at a bargain price, they are led to believe they’re in for an eventful summer. And yes... they are in for an eventful summer. So eventful in fact, little do they realize that they’ve just moved into a veritable house of horrors, full of malevolent forces that dwell within its walls, exerting their dark influence on the minds of its new inhabitants.

Also starring Karen Black (Easy Rider) and Bette Davis (Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?), Burnt Offerings provides a unique and chilling portrait of a modern family in meltdown. The BurningThe Burning

When a misjudged prank suddenly backfires, Cropsy (Lou David), a summer camp caretaker, is committed to hospital with severe burns and a bruised ego. Five years later he's released into the general public, and of course, hospital officials warn him not to blame the young campers who caused his hideous disfigurement in the first place. But that said, do you honestly think crispy Cropsy is going to heed their words? Like hell he is! No sooner is Cropsy back on the streets again, and he heads back to camp with a rusty pair of shears in hand, determined to exact his bloody revenge.

With standout gore effects courtesy of FX legend, Tom Savini, The Burning proved too shocking for UK censors upon its original video release. Now, fully uncut and in High Definition, The Burning is ready to reclaim its place as the ultimate summer camp nightmare.

Dark Water
Dark Water

Based upon a short story written by the author of the Ring, Koji Suzuki, Dark Water follows Yoshimi, a single mother who struggles to win sole custody of her only child, Ikuko. During this time she also moves into a new home within a dilapidated and long-forgotten apartment complex. But the thing is, whilst she's there, Yoshimi begins to experience startling visions and unexplainable sounds, calling her mental state into question, and endangering not only her custody of Ikuko, but perhaps their lives as well.

Beautifully shot by the same cinematographer as Ring and Pulse, and featuring an especially unnerving sound design, Dark Water successfully merges spine-tingling tension with a family’s heart-wrenching emotional struggle, creating one of the very finest and most unsettling contemporary Japanese horror films.
