RECOMMENDED APPS FOR COMIC CON

Spider-Man On PhoneBetween the 26th and the 28th of October, 2018, geeks and gamers, all across the UK, will be making their way towards the ExCeL Centre, London, in order to attend MCM Comic Con. Will you be among them? If so, then please keep in mind that you have to be prepared for what they have on offer! Otherwise, you’re going to have a pretty tough time checking out the cosplayers, chatting with the celebrities, or gawking at the video games and the comic books. After all, comic book conventions are generally exuberant and exciting places, so you have to make sure you’re primed and ready to cope with the deluge of pop culture that lies ahead.

Now one of the many ways of doing this is with the use of your mobile phone. All you have to do is download and use an appropriate selection of apps so you can navigate the byways and highways of the convention center. What now follows is a selection of apps I would recommend you seriously consider…

1) The Official App

If this is your first time attending MCM Comic Con, then please make sure you download their official app so you can plan the weekend's festivities! The app generally provides attendees with up to date information about the latest guests, exhibitors, exclusives, and shows.

2) Messaging

While at the con, you may notice that your smartphone can pick up a free WiFi signal. So to save money on making calls, why don't you have a go at using Viber? A communications based app which will allow you to talk and send messages over the internet. You can also create group chats with friends to ensure that they keep up with everyone’s whereabouts during the busy event.

3) Location Tracker

Going to a convention can sometimes be a fairly disorientating affair, especially if you’re not used to interacting with large crowds of people. So, to prevent this from happening, grab a location-sharing app so you can coordinate where you are with your family and friends. If you’re a parent, you could always use the Life360 app, as it can help you keep an eye on your nearest and dearest. Or alternatively, you could grab the Find My Friends app, which can be used to reunite those who've suddenly wandered off.

4) Health

As mentioned previously, a large majority of conventions are pretty busy places full of people, excitement, and fun-fun-fun. So much so, in fact, that sometimes you can forget to drink enough water while in attendance. So, to avoid having a dry throat or being dehydrated, download the app, My Water Balance, as it will calculate your daily water intake and notify you when you’re running low and need to drink more fluids.

5) Cosplay

Do you enjoy dressing up as your favorite hero or villain? If so, then I'm sure you would be interested in Cosplanner, an app that will allow you to create, manage, and keep track of your various costumes and designs. It will also give you the opportunity to save images of your chosen characters and log ideas for future reference.

6) Travel

It can occasionally be pretty difficult getting around town when a con is in full swing, largely due to the number of people making their way to the venue. So, to avoid heavily congested areas affecting public transport, tap on Citymapper, as it will help guide you without bumping into any major restrictions or obstacles.

7) Technology

Over the years, smartphones have become increasingly important when attending a major event, such as a convention, because people tend to use them more often to contact friends and family and share their experiences over social media. So, what better way of extending your battery life than with Battery Doctor? An app which will help prevent your smartphone dying on you while you’re out and about.

8) Weather

When it’s not raining, you might like to check out a very handy weather app developed by the Met Office which can assist you in choosing what outfit you should wear. Unfortunately, an umbrella is not included.
