CINEMATIC CARS CONTINUOUSLY SEEN ON SCREEN

Doc Brown’s DeLoreanOver the years, there have been quite a few truly iconic cars featured on film, ranging from James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5 all the way to Doc Brown’s DeLorean DMC-12. However, many of the vehicles we generally associate with cinema only appear in one or two movies, or at the very least, are encased within a single franchise. That's why new Aston Martin dealership Grange has now decided to compile a list of cars which have appeared on film, time and time again. Here, check it out...

Mercedes-Benz S-Class
1) Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Why it made the list: The Mercedes-Benz S-Class drives fast, looks swanky, and is generally recognized as being America's benchmark big luxury saloon.
How many appearances: 1,100 films and TV shows.
Notable mentions: Despite being seen in the 2004 horror-comedy, ‘The Stepford Wives’, as well as Steven Seagal’s 2006 action-adventure, ‘Shadow Man’, the S-Class is normally known for its appearances on ‘The Fast and the Furious’ franchise, especially ‘Tokyo Drift’, when it caused the death of Han.

Ford Crown Victoria
2) Ford Crown Victoria

Why it made the list: In 2011, when Ford started to phase out the Crown Victoria, real-life police departments all across America began stockpiling them because they’re easy to use and designed to withstand major structural damage.
How many appearances: 2,300 films and television shows.
Notable mentions: Unlike Ford’s S-Class, the Crown Victoria isn’t ordinarily regarded as a luxury car, but rather, as a taxi cab or a law enforcement vehicle. This is why you’ll be able to see a few in the background of films like ‘Project X’, ‘Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb’, ‘Lucy’, ‘Hot Pursuit’, plus many, many, more.

Chevrolet Caprice
3) Chevrolet Caprice

Why it made the list: Similar to Ford’s Crown Victoria, the Chevrolet Caprice is a fairly robust vehicle and usually used to double police cars or taxi cabs.
How many appearances: 1,400 times on TV and film since the first model was created during the 1960s.
Notable mentions: Some of the movies which show off the Caprice, include, ’Se7en’, ‘Scream 2’, ‘Days of Thunder’, ‘Point Break’, as well as the 2005 film version of ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’.

Chevrolet Impala
4) Chevrolet Impala

Why it made the list: Just like hot dogs, baseball, and drive-in theatres, the Chevrolet Impala is commonly considered to be a true American classic, and was once honored with being America’s best-selling full-size car.
How many appearances: 500 movies over the past half-century.
Notable mentions: You’ll be able to see the Impala in action while watching ‘Boyz n the Hood’, ‘Jeepers Creepers’, ‘Raising Arizona’, ‘Mad Max’, and ‘Saturday Night Fever’.

Ford Mustang
5) Ford Mustang

Why it made the list: In 2018, the 10 millionth Ford Mustang left the production line and this has cemented its position as being the world’s best-selling two-door sports car.
How many appearances: 800 movies in its various different guises.
Notable mentions: The Mustang was undoubtedly immortalized by Steve McQueen when he drove one in the 1968 thriller, ‘Bullitt’, although a notable mention should also go out to such hit movies as ‘Death Race’, ‘Goldfinger’, ‘Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby’, ‘I Am Legend’, as well as ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’ (both the original and the loose 2000 remake).

Volkswagen Golf6) Volkswagen Golf

Why it made the list: According to the 'Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders', the Volkswagen Golf has become the 2nd best-selling car in the UK because 54,829 models have been registered before the end of 2018. It has also won a string of prestigious awards and accolades too, such as being named the ‘2018 Auto Express Compact Family Car of the Year’ and the ‘GTi edition deemed Autocar Magazine’s Best Hot Hatch of All Time’.
How many appearances: Over 300 movies and TV shows.
Notable mentions: You’ll be able to see a VW in ‘The Business’, starring Danny Dyer, ‘Little Miss Sunshine’, starring Abigail Breslin, and ‘Footloose’, starring Kevin Bacon.

So there you have it, folks. Proof that Hollywood doesn’t just rely on iconic vehicles whenever they need a set of wheels, like Herbie the 1963 Volkswagen Beetle, for instance, or Mad Max’s 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT Pursuit Special. Now, if you can think of any more cinematic cars, please don’t hesitate to list them in the comment section below.
