FILMATICK - PRE-PRODUCTION SOFTWARE THAT ALLOWS FILMMAKERS TO VISUALIZE THEIR DREAMS IN 3D

FilmmakingNow before a film is made, someone, usually a director, has to sit down and plan everything we see and hear on screen from start to finish, including the way things look, sound, and behave, at every given moment in time. In fact, so much stuff needs to be planned prior to production, that sometimes certain filmmakers need a helping hand.

Well, let’s face it, it isn’t easy to compose each and every scene in an entire movie without forgetting certain little details along the way. So, to overcome this cinematic challenge, some directors prefer to put pen to paper so they can get a rough idea of a film’s needs, such as furnishings, room dimensions, and a basic lighting scheme. While others, on the other hand, are more than happy to use some type of custom-made software. Something like, Filmatick, for instance, which is now ready for action.

What is Filmatick? According to the press release, Filmatick is a live-action pre-production software that allows a filmmaker to 'draw shots' (based on their script), so they can create a 'shot list' and 'visualize' their movie prior to production. Visualize it in 3D!

Alfred Hitchcock
And why would they want to do that?
Well, not only does this make life simpler for everyone involved, including cast, crew, and of course, the actual director, but in addition to this, visualizing a scene beforehand can reduce the amount of time required to shoot a scene, which in turn, cuts down on expenses.

Name some of the features available on Filmatick:
In no particular order, you can...
  1. Create a scene by using a pre-built set, or alternatively, build one of your own with the use of their customization tools
  2. Import props or 3D models with the use of their vast library facility.
  3. Export a completed project or an individual component, such as script markup notes, a scene or shot list, as well as storyboards.
  4. Drag and drop pre-designed models anywhere onto your set (actors, props, etc.) so you can move them throughout your scene however you so wish.
  5. Recreate precise camera movements (pan, twist, track, dolly, etc.) by composing shots or changing lenses (closeup, medium, long, etc.).
  6. Add audio to your scenes, either by importing your own files or by utilizing their extensive sound library (which has an infinite number of tracks for audio).

Martin Scorsese
So have you seen this software in action?
Yes, yes I have, and if I do say so myself, it's very, very impressive, because it’s easy to use and nicely laid out. Come to think of it, it’s so user-friendly, it didn't take me long to figure out how to manipulate characters, scenes, backgrounds, and other filmic paraphernalia, in order to see the number of different possibilities available to a filmmaker.

Quentin Tarantino
Who created Filmatick?
Mike Gasaway, a filmmaker who's worked in the industry for over twenty years, working on such projects as 'The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius' (supervising animator), 'Help Me First' (producer), and 'Planet Sheen' (director), to name but a few.

Brian De Palma
Where can I go to find out more about Filmatick?
Well, you can check out their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages, or better yet, pop on over to their official Website. So go on, shoo, pay them a visit and immerse yourself into another way of making a movie.
