HOMES OF THE RICH AND FAMOUS - SINGERS EDITION

Music Pop ArtSeveral weeks ago, I published an article on behalf of toptenrealestatedeals.com that featured properties previously owned by five famous actors. Or as I like to call them, rich people, very rich people, who each hit it big by performing on the silver screen (click here for a sneak peek). So this week, I thought I’d do it once again, but this time, feature properties previously owned by five famous musicians. Here, check it out…

Elvis Aaron Presley
Name:
Elvis Aaron Presley / Known For: Being the King of Rock and Roll
Date of Birth: January 8, 1935 / Year They Started Their Career: 1946
Some of Their Popular Songs: Suspicious Minds (1969), Jailhouse Rock (1957), and In the Ghetto (1969)
Value of Their Property in 2020: $2.5 million
Associated Trivia: Elvis Presley was originally going to marry Priscilla inside this large, futuristic home, located in Palm Springs, California. Or to be more specific about it, he was going to marry her by the side of its grand swimming pool. But his plans quickly changed when Rona Barrett (a local gossip columnist) discovered what Elvis was up to, so he married her in Las Vegas instead. Either way, he liked the place and stayed here for a couple of years (from 1966 to 67), rotating between this so-called ‘House of Tomorrow’ and his better-known property in Memphis, 'Graceland'.

Phyllis Jean McGuire
Name:
Phyllis Jean McGuire / Known For: Being one-third of The McGuire Sisters
Date of Birth: February 14, 1931 / Year They Started Their Career: 1952

Associated Trivia: Actually, while we’re talking about Las Vegas, you might like to know that throughout the years a number of well-known films have been made in this city in Nevada. Films like The Hangover (2009), Ocean's Eleven (2001), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998), Leaving Las Vegas (1995), Casino (1995), Rain Man (1988), and many, many more.

Some of Their Popular Songs: If I Could Turn Back Time (1989), Believe (1998), and I Got You Babe (1965)
Value of Their Property in 2021: $88 million
Associated Trivia: As Sean states in the video, the Owlwood Mansion is a luxurious property situated in Los Angeles, California, which was once owned by a number of famous people, such as Joseph Schenck, Tony Curtis, and Sonny and Cher. But the one thing he failed to mention is that the original owner, Arthur Letts, died before his property was built, and so ultimately, it was left to his widow in his will.

John Winston Ono Lennon
Name:
John Winston Ono Lennon / Known For: Being a Beatle

Associated Trivia: Thanks to directors like Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese, and to some extent, Spike Lee, the New York borough of Manhattan has become synonymous with either crime, comedy, or urban decay. But what many people might not know is that the name, ‘Manhattan’, derives from a Munsee Lenape term that means, ‘the place where we get bows’, or, ‘the place to gather the wood to make bows’, which implies that way before it became a tall, sprawling, metropolis, populated by local hotdog vendors, steamy subway cars, and gargantuan buildingsManhattan was once a humble forest area where people acquired or made weaponry.

Michael Joseph Jackson

Well, Paul was staying there at the time, along with his wife, Linda, and immediately, Michael fell in love with it. So much so, in fact, that he decided to purchase the property and transform it into his own personal theme park.
