WHICH HERO SHOULD JOIN THE MCU NEXT?

MCU HeroesSince its inception, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has done a pretty decent job of depicting their large selection of characters on the silver screen, ranging from Iron Man and his high-tech shenanigans, all the way to Spider-Man and his wall-crawling antics. In fact, Marvel has done so well, that many of us want to see more, an awful lot more, starting off with the following five suggestions...

TFAW comics, subscriptions, service

Gambit
Gambit

Real Name: Remy Etienne LeBeau
First Appearance: Uncanny X-Men Annual #14
Date Published: July 1990
Created by: Chris Claremont and Jim Lee
Main Abilities:  Skilled card-thrower. Kinetic and static energy generation/manipulation. Superhuman charm.
Some of Their Affiliations: X-Factor, The X-Men, and The LeBeau Clan
Why They Should Join the MCU: Well, why not? As there’s no real reason why he shouldn’t join up sometime soon! After all, he’s a slick, powerful, humanoid mutant who’s as wild as a card game that you can play at casimba.com! So go ahead, play-play-play, and let’s see who wins!

The Sentry
The Sentry

Real Name: Robert Reynolds
First Appearance: The Sentry #1
Date Published: July 2000
Created by: Paul Jenkins, Jae Lee, and Rick Veitch
Main Abilities: Flight. Invulnerability. Superhuman strength. Telepathy. Teleportation. Regeneration. X-ray vision.
Some of Their Affiliations: Three versions of The Avengers and The Horsemen of Death
Why They Should Join the MCU: To some extent, The Sentry is Marvel’s version of Superman but with one fundamental flaw. He has a mental illness, a major mental illness, which is why he locks himself away so he can’t be manipulated into becoming a deadly supervillain.

Wolverine
Wolverine

Real Name: James Howlett
First Appearance: The Incredible Hulk #180
Date Published: October 1974
Created by: Len Wein, Herb Trimpe, Roy Thomas, and John Romita Sr.
Main Abilities: Retractable adamantium claws. Superhuman senses. Regeneration. Enhanced strength, speed, and stamina.
Some of Their Affiliations: The X-Men, The Avengers, and Alpha Flight
Why They Should Join the MCU: Well, between you and me, a number of actors have already been put in the frame for the role of Wolverine, actors like Keanu Reeves, Zac Efron, and Jon Bernthal. But the question still remains, will any of them be as good as Hugh Jackman’s interpretation of Logan? Or will they be as flat as a Canadian maple leaf, floating in the breeze?

Spider-Man
Spider-Man

Real Name: Miles Gonzalo Morales
First Appearance: Ultimate Fallout #4
Date Published: August 2011
Created by: Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli
Main Abilities: Superhuman strength, speed, and agility. Resistance to injury. Venom blasts and web-shooters. Camouflage. Ability to cling to solid surfaces.
Some of Their Affiliations: The Avengers, The Champions, and The Web-Warriors
Why They Should Join the MCU: Since his comic book debut, roughly 10 years ago, Miles has become a fan favorite and a notable hero in his own right. So in many ways, it seems like a no-brainer for him to join the MCU! If only to see him interact with Peter Parker and the rest of his friends.

Ghost Rider
Ghost Rider

Real Name: Johnathon Blaze
First Appearance: Marvel Spotlight #5
Date Published: August 1972
Created by: Gary Friedrich, Roy Thomas, and Mike Ploog
Main Abilities: Skilled motorcyclist. Superhuman strength, stamina, and durability. Capable of traveling between interdimensional realms. Flame projection, both regular and ethereal.
Some of Their Affiliations: The Champions, The Defenders, and Heroes for Hire
Why They Should Join the MCU: Even though Ghost Rider has already made an appearance in the MCU, mainly, in the fourth season of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, that was the Robbie Reyes version of the character and not the Johnny Blaze version. But hopefully, that could all change sometime soon because Marvel has allegedly looked at several actors to play the part. Preferably, actors who can ride a motorcycle, wield a chain, and look good with their faces on fire.

Notable Mentions: Deadpool (F#ck Yeah!), Venom (Otherwise known as the very naughty Spider-Man!), Squirrel Girl (Yes, I said Squirrel Girl), and Batman (Well, it couldn’t hurt, ha!).

So, what did you think of that, dear reader? What did you think of that list of possible new additions to the MCU? I mean, was it good? Bad? Or bloody ugly? Either way, let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.
