Rocky (Bill Conti)

The inspiring theme song from the 1976 boxing film, 'Rocky', was nominated for Best Original Song at the 49th Academy Awards and has become one of the most iconic themes of all time. Not only was it featured in five different installments of the franchise, but it's also been adopted by athletes, pundits, and a variety of other people to be their anthem for hard work and perseverance.

Star Wars (John Williams)

When John Williams composed the score for the first film in the 'Star Wars' franchise, 'Episode IV - A New Hope', he drew some of his inspiration from three specific pieces of music. Most notably, 'The Planets' by Gustav Holst, the 'Funeral March' by Frederic Chopin, and the music from the 1942 film, 'Kings Row', by Erich Wolfgang Korngold. John eventually won several Academy Awards for his work on this franchise and others.

Spider-Man (Danny Elfman)

According to the composer, Danny Elfman, his score for Sam Raimi's 2002 superhero film, 'Spider-Man', consists of traditional orchestration, ethnic percussion, and electronic elements. He also credited his score's distinct ethnic characteristics to the time he spent in Africa studying the continent's unique variety of percussion.

Forrest Gump (Alan Silvestri)

Alan Silvestri managed to create a distinctive background score for the 1994 film, 'Forrest Gump', by basing it on the protagonist's chaotic journey through life. He also created a distinctive American soundtrack for the film by selecting several songs from popular American musicians, such as Bob Dylan and Elvis Presley.

Titanic (James Horner)

The director, James Cameron, originally wanted the Irish singer, Enya, to compose the music for his 1997 nautical drama, 'Titanic'. But when she declined his offer, he decided to approach the composer, James Horner, even though their relationship was rather strained after their first collaboration on the 1986 sci-fi film, 'Aliens'. Fortunately, Horner agreed to work with Cameron again, and he based his score on Enya's notable style.

So, there you have it, folks, five films with an epic soundtrack. Do you agree with this selection? And if not, what would you have preferred instead?
