ALTERNATE COMIC BOOK FACTS AND FILM POSTERS (PART TWO)

X-Men Last week, I published an article featuring a selection of alternate comic book facts and alternate comic book film posters (click here to check that out). So, if you would like to see more, then please feel free to sit back, relax, and have a look at this ๐Ÿ‘‡. Enjoy.

Forbidden planet

Iron Man

Iron Man was one of the few characters Stan Lee co-created with his younger brother, Larry Lieber, who they partly based on the rich philanthropist, Howard Hughes. Howard was best known for owning RKO Studios, parts of Las Vegas, as well as his own airline. More surprisingly, though, he's also known for co-directing the 1930 classic, 'Hell's Angels', which George Lucas used as a visual guide when he constructed the dogfight scene in the film, 'Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope'.

Wonder Woman

It's fairly common knowledge that Wonder Woman was created by the inventor of the polygraph, William Moulton Marston. But not many people know that she wouldn't have been so wonderful if it wasn't for a certain Man of Steel. In 1939 (two years before she ever graced the comic book page), Will Eisner created a super-human character called Wonder Man for Fox Publications. However, Wonder Man looked and behaved too much like Superman, so DC took them to court, won the case, and then instructed William to create a female character with the word 'wonder' in her name.

Wolverine

At one point in his development, Wolverine was intended to be an actual mutant wolverine that evolved into a humanoid form. His co-creator, Len Wein, has denied this, though, and once stated, 'I write stories about human beings, not evolved animals'.

Dark Knight

Even though Batman's origins are fairly well-known, the origins behind his origins aren't so popular. In 1932, Mikhel Siegel, who was the Lithuanian father of Jerry Siegel (one of Superman's co-creators), was abruptly attacked by a thief that was robbing his clothing store and eventually died. So, years later, when Jerry told this sad story to Bob Kane, Bob then decided to integrate it into the origin of his co-creation, Batman.

Avengers

DC Comics were so successful with their first Justice League comic book (circa 1960), that Marvel chose to cash in on the team's popularity by creating the Avengers. But this only happened when they had some printing problems with one of their other new titles, 'Daredevil' #1, and needed something to replace it as quickly as possible, Wink-Wink!

So, what do you think of all that, folks? What do you think of these alternate comic book facts and these alternate comic book film posters? Are they something new or have you come across them before? Either way, please feel free to let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.
