1) Name three words that best describe who you are. I'd say, director, writer, and actor.
2) What inspired you to create, 'Porcelain Dolls'? The films of Alfred Hitchcock partly inspired my story because many of them defied conventional storytelling by either bending or breaking the pre-established rules set by Hollywood. In the Hitchcock film 'Psycho', for instance, the main character dies halfway through the film and is replaced by another protagonist. This hardly happened at the time, circa 1960, and it motivated me to create a story that bends things around.
3) In your own words, how would you describe your story? It's a thriller that has clues hidden in plain sight the whole time, along with a cast of characters who will leave you wanting more. Or, to put it another way, it's a murder mystery about a sexy and smart detective searching for a killer who's murdering young female artists and creating art out of their dead bodies.
4) What song would you say best represents 'Porcelain Dolls' and why? I'd like to select Niia's rendition of the Lady Gaga song, 'Bad Romance', because its jazzy tone sets the mood and vibe for something that has gone tragically wrong - similar to the tone I'm aiming for with 'Porcelain Dolls'.
5) If you could get a celebrity - either living or dead - to promote your wares, who would you choose, and why would you want to choose this particular person? That would have to be the Lumière brothers, Auguste and Louis, as they made the first motion picture camera, which scared their entire audience straight out of the theater. Clearly, it changed history and was a huge success.
6) What's the one thing about 'Porcelain Dolls' that might surprise people? At first, the story may seem like a bunch of sex and violence, but over time, the readers will discover there's much more to it than that - more than one comic book series, anyway.
'Porcelain Dolls' is a four-issue comic book series written by Ryan Christopher Doyle and illustrated by Marat Mychaels. For further information, please feel free to check out the official website or the current Kickstarter campaign.
