COMIC BOOK COVERS FOR SUPERMAN/SPIDER-MAN #1 AND SPIDER-MAN/SUPERMAN #1

In 1976, DC and Marvel Comics joined forces to publish their first-ever superhero comic book. Even though they had previously collaborated on a comic book adaptation of the 1939 cinematic classic, 'The Wizard of Oz', this was the first time they produced a comic starring their own iconic characters. Written by Gerry Conway and illustrated by Ross Andru, 'Superman vs The Amazing Spider-Man' #1 chronicles an adventure in which their flagship heroes band together to defend the world from their greatest foes. It was the first of its kind and would be followed by numerous other crossovers in the years to come.





So, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this historic comic book, both companies will be releasing their own comics starring the same heroes, Superman and Spider-Man. In March 2026, DC Comics will publish a standalone story written by Mark Waid and illustrated by Jorge Jiménez. Then one month later, Marvel Comics will publish their own one-shot written by Brad Meltzer and illustrated by Pepe Larraz. Both comic books will include multiple bonus stories featuring some of Superman and Spider-Man's supporting characters, such as Lois Lane and Mary Jane Watson, and each one will be available in a regular cover and a series of variant covers.
