Now, for a nice change of pace, I thought it would be a jolly good idea if my 15-year-old niece would review the following two fun-filled guides published by DK Books. After all, she's clever, she's young, and she has a fresh new perspective. In fact, she's so fresh, her parents told me to wash my hands every time I hit her. So, without any further ado, it's now over to you, Sophia, and your take on these Disney themed books! Here, check this out…
Disney Pixar Character Encyclopedia New Edition
Format: Hardcover.
Number of Pages: 224-pages.
Synopsis: Whether you fawn over Woody or have the hots for Lightning McQueen, this new visual encyclopedia by DK Books will give you the opportunity to rediscover some of the best movie moments produced by Pixar. It also shines a spotlight on all 21 movies and has been updated and expanded to include characters from 'Monsters University', 'Inside Out', 'The Good Dinosaur', 'Finding Dory', 'Cars 3', 'Coco', 'Incredibles 2', and 'Toy Story 4'. In addition to this, each page has been color-coded by movie franchise, so it’s easy for readers to find their favorite characters from the 290 featured.
What Sophia Thought of It: Being a big fan of Disney, I was really happy when my Uncle David allowed me to write about this book. Well, it's a surprisingly good book, and it's full of facts, images, and fun profiles that showcase all of the main characters from Pixar. What I liked about it the most, though, would have to be its overall style as well as the way each section was broken down and presented on the page. Visually, everything stood out like a magazine spread, while textually (thanks for the word, Unc), the content was easy to read and printed in a bold and vivid manner. That said, however, certain pages did look somewhat busy and slightly overcrowded. But not too often, and it never detracted from the information being displayed. I mean, did you know that Russell from 'Up' has over 40 Wilderness Explorer badges? Or for that matter, that The Cleaner from 'Toy Story 2' is really called Geri? If not, and you want to know more, then please check out this well designed, well factual, and well fun book.

What Sophia Thought of It: When my Uncle David first handed me this book, he made sure to remind me that it was for a child a lot younger than myself. Which made sense, once I read it, because it's a very quick read due to its simple content and design. To some extent, this would be a good book to use whenever you have to babysit a small child, as the pictures are big and bold, the layouts are large and easy to read, and with a bit of effort, you can actually use it to teach someone about the characters featured in this film. Well, just like the previous book, this one is full of facts and figures and images. But unlike the previous book, it's shorter in length and very brief in terms of things to say. Although, that aside, all in all, this was a nice book and I'm happy to have read it.
