CAN A FILM OR TV SHOW INCREASE THE VALUE OF A PROPERTY?

Star Wars GothicIt's fairly common knowledge that not every movie or TV show is filmed inside a studio, mainly because some of them are recorded on location in order to add a sense of realism to the overall production. But did you know that the act of making a movie or show in real-life locations can sometimes add value to the locations in question? Along with the surrounding areas!!

Now a good example of this can be seen in the popular TV show, 'Friends', where Monica's apartment building (situated on Bedford Street, New York) is said to have increased surrounding property values by 100% (despite it only being shown from the outside to establish its interiors based in a studio)! Similarly, the 'Murder House' from 'American Horror Story' has also increased local property values. But in this case, it has increased by 5%, not 100% (even though it's been seen in hundreds of TV shows and movies, from 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' to 'The X-Files').

What now follows is a map created by the online comparison site, Uswitch.com, which illustrates some of the areas in the US and the UK that have risen in value due to their association with the TV shows filmed there. This is then complemented by a top ten list of properties seen on the silver screen, with each one ranked by their increased street value (after said film was made).
