WHO HAS THE MOST SUCCESSFUL CHARACTERS? DC OR MARVEL?

Batman / Spider-ManThroughout the years, comic book fans have often debated who is the most successful character published by either DC or Marvel. But if truth be told, no one has ever truly come up with a definitive answer. Well, not until now, anyway, because recently, our mates at SlotsUp.com have attempted to find out who's the most successful comic book character, based on a box office score derived from these ten factors…

TFAW comics, subscriptions, service

  1. The amount of time they've spent on screen.
  2. Their average solo film rating on IMDb.
  3. Their Google search volume.
  4. How many comic books they've appeared in.
  5. The total number of solo films they've starred in.
  6. The amount of money their solo films have earned at the box office.
  7. How many community members they've got on Reddit.
  8. The amount of cosplay Instagram hashtags attributed to their name.
  9. The number of times someone searched for a toy with their likeness on Amazon.
  10. Positive sentiment.

What now follows are the results of their findings, split up into three specific categories: Gender (for both male and female superheroes), Type (for both heroes and villains), and Group Affiliation (for both the Justice League and the Avengers). We're also presented with an additional section that features the most successful hero and villain (from both DC and Marvel) Facing-Off against each other. Here, check this out...

Wonder Woman
The Most Successful Superheroes Ranked by Gender

In all honesty, I'm not entirely surprised by these results ๐Ÿ‘‡, because (once upon a time) Spider-Man and Batman appeared in more than four monthly comic book titles and starred in several successful movies ๐Ÿ†! Similarly, both Wonder Woman and Black Widow have also fronted fairly successful projects (although, in retrospect, to a much lesser degree).

Joker
The Ten Most Successful Comic Book Characters Ranked by Type

Unlike the previous results ๐Ÿ‘†, these results ๐Ÿ‘‡ did take me by surprise ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. After all, it looks like DC are more adept at producing villains than their counterparts at Marvel (with an 8 to 2 character count in their favor). While Marvel, on the other hand, appears to be better at producing heroes than their counterparts at DC (which in this case, is swayed 6 to 4 in their favor).

Villains - Both DC and Marvel

Avengers
The Ten Most Successful Superheroes Affiliated with the Avengers or the Justice League

According to the late, great, Stan Lee, one of the main reasons he and Jack Kirby first formed the Avengers (way back in September, 1963) was due to the success of the Justice League of America title published by DC Comics (which they initially released in November, 1960). So, what does that say in regards to the subsequent results? ๐Ÿ‘‡ Well, not much really! Apart from the fact that the Avengers currently appear to be a slightly more popular team, as they received a total box office score of 303.3 points ๐Ÿ˜€, while the Justice League only received a total box office score of 251.3 points ๐Ÿ˜’.

Venom

Hands up, everyone who enjoys watching a good, solid fight ✋! Go on, stick them up, up, up ✈, into the sky, sky, sky ⛅, and then once you've done that, afterwards, you can let me know what you think of these two results ๐Ÿ‘‡ in the comment section below, low, low ✍. But when you do, please try to be nice and courteous at all times. Many thanks ๐Ÿ™.
