TRVE KVLT - MY INTERVIEW WITH SCOTT BRYAN WILSON AND LIANA KANGAS

Trve Kvlt - CoverIn August, 2022, IDW Publishing will be releasing a new five-part monthly comic book series about a burger flipper who's inspired to commit the perfect heist after acquiring a supernatural weapon. The series is called, 'Trve Kvlt', and it's written by Scott Bryan Wilson ('Pennyworth'), illustrated by Liana Kangas ('Star Wars Adventures'), and colored by Gab Contreras ('Witchblood'). You also might like to know that it's a part of a new range of projects spearheaded by IDW, entitled, 'Originals'. Want to know more? Then please check out the following Q and A with Scott and Liana. Enjoy.

1) Name three words that best describe who you are.   Liana: I'd say, compassionate, weird, and creative.

Scott: Whereas I'd say, author, visionary, and dreamweaver (bonus points to those of you who can correctly guess where I stole that from!).

2) What inspired you to create, 'Trve Kvlt'?   Liana: I've wanted to draw a semi-realistic story for quite a while. So when I met Scott, and we started to talk about our love for heist movies, fast food, and comic books, it only seemed natural that I would draw something I already knew. After all, I worked in the food industry for years, mainly when I was growing up.

3) In your own words, how would you describe this story?   Scott: The story is about a dude in a dead-end job who sees the opportunity to pull off the perfect heist, which he does, with unintended consequences. Or in other words, it's a story about fast-food-fueled Satanic criminality.

4) What song would you say best represents this comic book series and why?   Liana: It's funny that you should ask this question because I have a playlist for every issue of the series. But if I had to choose just one song, I would like to select, 'How Bizarre', by OMC.

Scott: OMC? I always thought Sugar Ray sang 'How Bizarre'! Well, that's until a few moments ago, when I did a quick online search (๐Ÿ‘). As for me, though, I'd pick 'Danger Zone' by Kenny Loggins, as our protagonist is stuck in the 80s and on the highway to the danger zone (but only if the danger zone's situated in hell).

5) If you could get a celebrity – either living or dead – to promote your wares, who would you choose, and why would you want to choose this particular person?   Liana: Well, leaning into the QVC thing, I'd like to see either Jean Smart or Bill Hader promote our work. Don't ask me why, though, as I don't have a reason, other than the fact that I love them both.

6) What have you learned about yourself through this endeavor?   Scott and Liana (together): We love making creator-owned comics a whole f#cking lot.

And on that note, I would like to thank Scott and Liana for telling us about their new comic book series, 'Trve Kvlt', before encouraging you to check out the official IDW Website, Instagram, and Twitter pages. Or better yet, why not pick up a copy via Amazon!
