'Faber and Faber' have recently released a 384-page graphic novel devised by the French artist, Christophe Chabouté. The name of this poetic tale is called 'Alone', and it centers on the life of a hermit who whiles away his days maintaining a lighthouse situated on an island far from the rest of the world.
Alone by Christophe Chabouté
Every week, for years on end, a supply boat would leave this man a moderate amount of provisions. Yet, for reasons of their own, the group of fishermen who take part in this delivery never leave their boat and don't physically meet him, face to face. So as you can imagine, years spent on this deserted rock has made the reclusive lighthouse keeper something more than alone, something else entirely. For him, what lies beyond the horizon might be... nothing... so why would you ever want to leave? But, one day, curiosity gets the better of him when a new boatman steps onto the island... and... want to know more? Then please check out the following 10-page preview for a taste of what is yet to come. Please enjoy.
'Alone' is priced at £15.99 and published by Faber and Faber. So if you want to pick up a copy please don't hesitate to check out Amazon or the Faber and Faber online store.
