In April, 2022, Source Point Press published the first in a series of comic books that explores the cosmos as well as what it means to be a human being. The name of this comic is 'Corollary', and what now follows is my interview with its author, Adam Rose. Please enjoy.
1) Name three words that best describe who you are. I'd say, writer, goof, and heart.
2) What inspired you to create, 'Corollary'? The idea for this story came to me when my daughter asked me a very imaginative question. She said, 'If a twin got tickled, would the other twin then start to laugh?', and in turn, I replied by creating a story that's a lot darker than my daughter's initial question.
3) In your own words, how would you describe this story? 'Corollary' is a space opera that grapples with what it means to be an individual in a universe of twos. It's also about reevaluating a sense of family and exploring the concept of companionship, all the while battling a cosmos, out to discover a deep, dark, secret.
4) What song would you say best represents this comic? To answer this question, I'd like to select the King Curtis song, 'Memphis Soul Stew'.
5) If you could get a celebrity – either living or dead – to promote your wares, who would you choose, and why would you want to choose this particular person? I would love the late, great, Peter Sellers to promote my wares because his wit, talent, and all-around persona signify what I think the world needs more of to keep on turning.
6) During your time in this field, what is the one thing that has kept you in good stead? Many years ago, a teacher said to me, 'Don't burn bridges', and this expression has always stuck with me through all of my creative endeavors. So much so, in fact, that not only do I want to continue to build relationships, share ideas, and create the stories I want to tell, but I also want to share my passion for a medium I've loved ever since I first started to read.
And on that note, I would like to thank Adam for telling us about his comic book, 'Corollary', before encouraging you to pick up a copy via the official Source Point Press Website (issue 2 coming out May 18th). Or if you prefer, why not follow Adam on either his Twitter or Instagram pages!
