Who is Morgana Pendragon? Is she a legendary character rooted in Arthurian mythology? Or is she a more flexible figure, endlessly reimagined throughout the years? Well, to find out about one specific version of Morgana, you might like to check out a new four-issue comic book series written by the award-winning author and screenwriter, Madeleine Holly-Rosing. What now follows is my interview with Madeleine about her new series. Please enjoy.
Please enjoy.1) Name three words that best describe who you are. I'd say, disciplined, introverted, and self-aware.
2) What inspired you to create your comic book series, 'Morgana Pendragon'? I wanted to create a middle-aged female character who's a competent professional with a rich inner life. This is something I don't often see in a lot of comic books.
3) In your own words, how would you describe your story? It's ultimately a story about redemption and lost opportunities.
4) What song would you say best represents 'Morgana Pendragon' and why? I have no idea, but I did love choosing the music for our Kickstarter video. That's something I'm particular about, as I want the music to reflect the story and add another dimension to it. The energy has to build when people watch it, and since 'Morgana Pendragon' falls into the epic adventure category, I wanted something to reflect that. Despite being a fan of Emmett Cooke's compositions, I eventually went with 'Dauntless' by Colorfilm Music.
5) If you could get a celebrity - either living or dead - to promote your wares, who would you choose, and why would you want to choose this particular person? Even though I'm not quite sure if they qualify as celebrities, I'd like to pick two prolific American authors: Martha Wells, the author of 'The Murderbot Diaries' series, who revitalized her career after a downward trajectory; and John G. Hemry, also known as Jack Campbell, the author of 'The Lost Fleet' series, who demonstrated that a writer's craft can improve over the years.
6) What's the one thing about 'Morgana Pendragon' that might surprise people? Those who are familiar with my other comic book series, 'Boston Metaphysical Society', have come to realize that my stories tend to be somewhat cerebral. But those unfamiliar with my other series may be interested to know that it's a supernatural detective mystery with elements of action and violence. It's not as violent as 'Morgana Pendragon', though, which may surprise some.
'Morgana Pendragon' is a four-issue comic book series written by Madeleine Holly-Rosing and illustrated by Alden Kaye. For further information, please feel free to visit Madeleine's official website. Or if you prefer, you can click here to order a copy of the first issue via BackerKit.
