NOTHING TO SNIFF AT: A QUICK GUIDE TO QUENTIN TARANTINO'S CINEMATIC FEET

Quentin Tarantino's Feet On September 23, 2026, TidalWave Comics released a brand-new comic book devoted to the life and career of Quentin Tarantino, the world-famous filmmaker, actor, and writer. Aptly titled 'Fame: Quentin Tarantino', the aforementioned comic book was written by me, David Lee Andrews, and illustrated by Diego Magno. So, to celebrate its release, I thought it would be a jolly good idea to take a look at Quentin's feet. Well, not his feet, per se, but rather some of the feet featured in his films. Want to know more? Then please check out the following guide to Quentin Tarantino's cinematic feet.

Pulp Fiction

Pulp Fiction (1994): Aside from a debate about foot massages between the hitmen, Jules Winnfield and Vincent Vega (Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta), this film is known for highlighting two pairs of bare feet. One pair belongs to Mia Wallace (Uma Thurman), the wife of a gangster who trots barefoot across her living room floor, while the other pair belongs to Esmarelda Villalobos (Angela Jones), the sultry cabby who drives her cab by pressing the pedals with her bare feet.

Four Rooms

Four Rooms (1995): In this anthology film, Quentin directs a segment titled 'The Man from Hollywood', in which a rich lady is seen casually lounging around a luxury penthouse. Her name is Angela (Jennifer Beals), and for whatever reason, she isn't wearing anything on her feet.

Jackie Brown

Jackie Brown (1997): When the character of Melanie Ralston (Bridget Fonda) is introduced in this film, she's shown from the ankles down, with her bare feet propped up on a coffee table and sporting toe rings. Melanie lives with an arms dealer named Ordell Robbie (Samuel L. Jackson), and she spends her days smoking, watching TV, and ultimately helping to plot a high-stakes cash heist.

Kill Bill: Volume 1

Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003): This action-packed adventure follows a former elite assassin who wakes from a four-year coma determined to track down and eliminate the deadly squad that betrayed her. The assassin is called the Bride (Uma Thurman), and before she begins her quest, she desperately wills her paralyzed nervous system back to life, starting with wiggling her toes. Later on in the film, one of her opponents, O-Ren Ishii (Lucy Liu), is seen fighting barefoot in the snow.

Death Proof

Death Proof (2007): At the start of this grindhouse thriller, a nice pair of bare feet can be seen resting on the dashboard of a car. They belong to a lovely lady named Arlene (Vanessa Ferlito), whose feet were doubled in that specific sequence by the actress, Shannon Hazlett. Soon after, another nice pair of feet is prominently featured, but this time they belong to Abernathy Ross (Rosario Dawson), a tough chick who dangles her bare feet out of a moving car window.

Inglourious Basterds

Inglourious Basterds (2009): One of the characters in this wartime drama is a double agent called Bridget von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger), who is injured during a gunfight between a group of Nazis and a team of Allied soldiers. But to hide the true nature of her injuries, a cast is placed over her leg and foot, and she is forced to lie to the Nazis by telling them she was injured in a mountaineering accident.

Django Unchained

Django Unchained (2012): This revisionist Western revolves around Django Freeman (Jamie Foxx), a freed slave who sets out to rescue his wife from the clutches of the brutal plantation owner, Calvin J. Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). His wife's name is Broomhilda von Shaft (Kerry Washington), and to capture the raw, visceral trauma of her enslavement, in one scene she's seen being dragged out of her confinement cell without anything on her feet.

Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood

Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019): There are two ladies in this film who aren't ashamed of exposing their bare feet. One of them is Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie), an actress who goes to a local theater to watch one of her films, 'The Wrecking Crew', where she sits comfortably with her bare feet propped up on the seat in front of her. The other young lady is known as Pussycat (Margaret Qualley), a hitchhiker who presses her bare feet against the inside of a car's windshield while it's driven by the stuntman, Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt).
