A SELECTION OF COVERS FOR THE NEW 'TIGER KING' COMIC BOOK

Tiger King CoverNot so long ago, the popular Netflix series, ‘Tiger King’, took the world by storm because it rapidly presented us with a cast of crazy characters who each behaved in a rather unconventional fashion. In fact, what they did seemed so, so unconventional, that my mates over at TidalWave Comics have decided to create a flip-book focused on their past adventures. Want to know more? Then please check out the following image gallery.

Well, to keep in vogue with the bombastic tone of this wild and wacky TV show, Darren Davis, the top dog over at TidalWave, has commissioned 14 variant covers illustrated by a variety of excellent artists. This includes a Standard cover (by Joe Paradise), a Special Edition Tiger cover (by Jesse Johnson), a Spider-man Homage cover (by Kagan McLeod), a Calvin and Hobbes cover (by Joe Phillips), a Todd McFarlane Spider-man Homage cover (by Chris Foreman), three-character covers (by Noumier Tawilah), an Incredible Hulk Homage cover (by Joe Paradise), plus several more in the collection (see pictures provided).

In an interview he had with ABC's Morning Blend, Michael L. Frizell, the writer of the ‘Tiger King’ comic book, openly admitted that he never watched an episode prior to writing his adaptation of this peculiarly popular series. So, after a couple of weeks of meticulous, coff-coff, research, he eventually chose to create a prequel of sorts, a prequel that chronicled the adventures of the two main stars, Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin, just before the show began. He also chose to create the comic as a flip-book in order to reflect the two-sided narrative he wanted to convey.

Even though Joe and Carol don’t meet until the very end of this comic book (or should that be, middle, in this case?), that doesn’t necessarily mean that their rivalry isn’t explored throughout their individual adventures. After all, both of their lives have largely revolved around making deals, finding solutions, or controlling those people around them. Sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad, and sometimes for the damn right ugly. Say no more.

PETA, otherwise known as the nonprofit organization, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, also contributed to this comic by adding a section that explains certain facts commonly associated with tigers! For instance, when tigers reach their sexual maturity, they generally tend to get so aggressive that they're either sold to roadshows, forced to breed with other tigers, or put to sleep... permanently!

Next week, I will be able to present you with an exclusive preview of the ‘Tiger King’ comic book. But before then, please feel free to check out the official TidalWave Comics Website, Facebook, and Twitter pages. Or better yet, why not pick up a copy of ‘Infamous: Tiger King’ via ComiXology.
