FARLAINE THE GOBLIN -- HE PUTS THE COOL BACK INTO COMIC BOOKS

Now after I interviewed Frankenstein a couple of months back, I honestly thought to myself that I would never be able to top this experience one little bit. But no. I was wrong. Very-very wrong. Today I got the opportunity to sit down and have a chat with a Goblin called Farlaine. Here. Check out what he told me whilst we were prancing about the forest like a couple of fairies (No offense implied).

1) What's the best thing about being a Goblin, Farlaine?   Well, first and foremost let's clarify that I'm a TREE goblin. Very big difference from a rock goblin or a kelp goblin. and even further removed from one of those mischievous goblins that like to explode things!

As for being a tree goblin? The best part is talking to trees! They have so much to say, so much experience, and so many stories. They saw the cities being built and they saw the cities fall to ruins. The rest of us can't even imagine that!

It's also pretty cool to get to grow whatever you need, whenever you need it. Food? Shelter? Clothes? Easy!

2) How would you describe your time in the Forest of Fin-Din?   That's where I grew up! It's a great, great forest that my folks tended and protected. My dad had twisted together this great house in the banyans and we spent our days tending the tree herds, nuzzling sick oaks back to health, fighting off the poxes... it was a great growing up! And that's where I met Ehrenwort!

3) Who are your pals?   Ehrenwort is my best pal! We've been friends since I was a little goblin back home and she's been traveling with me ever since we set off looking for a forest to call our own. Do you know much about tree goblins and their verdan? She's what connects me back home and is where we get our bubbles from. Without her we wouldn't have any bubbles!

4) Who are your enemies?   I never really considered myself to have any enemies. but these days it seems like the Tinks of Orn keep chasing after me!! I don't have anything against them, yet they clearly have something against me.

5) If you could set your life to some music, what type of music would it be?   Raindrops and thistle winds of course! But I bet everyone answers that.

6) You're a shaman, right? So what exactly does a shaman do?   A shaman takes care of his forest! He protects it and guards it and helps it grow. We settle disputes between the trees and ferns, ward off any fires that spring up, helps the animals find homes. Basically everything that makes a good forest hum! We're protectors and guides and friends to anything that grows!

7) Apart from your magical ability, do you have any other superpowers?   I personally don't have any magic -- it's all Ehrenwort! She's the magic one. But she's can't really do much with it on her own, so it's sort of a team thing I suppose. I'm the brains, she's the bubbles. Together we can make seeds grow and twist them into shapes and make big things happen. We gotta lotta seeds with us too, and can do a lotta fun stuff with em! Just last week we put out a fire with trees. Most people don't know how to do that!!

8) If you had a motto, what do you think it would be?   Don't be a butthusk!

9) Anything else you care to add?   The first book that collects together our adventures, 'Farlaine the Goblin #1, Farlaine in the Tinklands', is being released in your world on September 25th, 2013. Book 2, 'Farlaine in the Saltlands', comes out in October. And Book 3, 'Farlaine in the Racelands', comes out in December.
